The management of boxer Urvashi Singh from India has cancelled the planned title fight against Melina Maibaum for reasons that are currently not clear. The team has already travelled home.
The responsible association WBC and Hockenheim-Ring GmbH as the organiser were informed of the cancellation on Wednesday evening. Hockenheim-Ring GmbH deeply regrets this step and reserves the right to take legal action. The WBC has already imposed sanctions against Singh, including the revocation of the WBC title.
Despite the boxer’s cancellation at short notice by her management, the promoter and the association have succeeded in finding a suitable opponent for Melina Maibaum. Kerstin Wiedermann will now step into the ring on 24 August 2024 to fight for the WBC International Super Bantamweight title.
